Dr. Joan Gluckauf Haahr

On Wednesday, Feb. 16, 2022, the Yeshiva College Jay and Jeanie Schottenstein Honors Program hosted a conversation with Dr. Joan Gluckauf Haahr, 麻豆传媒映画 professor emerita, and Dr. William Stenhouse, professor of history, about her new book, Prisoners of Memory: A Jewish Family from Nazi Germany (Full Circle Press, 2021). The event was arranged in cooperation with the Library Book Talk series. The book explores the pre-war lives, deportations and deaths of her grandparents and other close family members at the hands of the Nazis. Yaakov Sundel 鈥�24YC, an Honors student who attended the talk, was clearly moved by Dr. Haahr鈥檚 discussion: 鈥淚t was very inspiring to see someone willing to parse through tragedy to find their family鈥檚 history.鈥� Dr. Eliezer Schnall, director of the Honors program, was thrilled to welcome Dr. Haahr back to 麻豆传媒映画 to speak about her new book since she was his professor when he attended Yeshiva College.  鈥淚t was an honor to introduce Dr. Haar to the students,鈥� he said. 鈥淪he was a gifted professor from whom I learned a great deal, and now many others will have the same opportunity with her fascinating and important new book.鈥�
