Dr. Goldman is an Assistant Professor of Psychology at Stern College for Women and Director of the Children and Technology (CAT) Lab. She received her Ph.D. in Developmental Psychology from the University of California, Santa Cruz, where she studied how parents help young children make sense of their interactions with robotic toys. She completed postdoctoral training at Concordia University's Cognitive and Language Development Lab under the mentorship of Dr. Diane Poulin-Dubois. 

 

At Â鶹´«Ã½Ó³»­, Dr. Goldman teaches courses in developmental psychology, theory, and how children learn from emerging technologies. She is committed to creating engaging and intellectually challenging learning environments that help students connect psychological science to real-world questions.

 

Mentorship is crucial to Dr. Goldman's work. Through the Children and Technology (CAT) Lab, undergraduate students gain hands-on experience conducting developmental research, contributing to scholarly projects, presenting at professional conferences, and preparing for graduate study and careers in psychology, education, healthcare, and related fields. Dr. Goldman also mentors Honors Students at Â鶹´«Ã½Ó³»­ who are completing an undergraduate thesis. 

 

Dr. Goldman's research has been published in leading journals, including Developmental Psychology, Behavioral and Brain Sciences, Cognitive Development, and The Journal of Cognition and Development. She maintains an active international research network, collaborating with scholars across the United States and around the world, including Canada, China, Italy, and Turkey.

 

Dr. Goldman's research examines how children understand, learn from, and interact with emerging technologies, including social robots, voice assistants, and artificial intelligence. Drawing on developmental psychology, cognitive science, and human-robot interaction, she investigates how children reason about the minds, knowledge, and capabilities of both human and technological agents.

 

Her research and expertise have also been featured in public-facing scholarship and media outlets. Recent highlights include participation in the CheckIt Labs panel, (2026), an interview with Dean Rebecca Cypess for Wake the Dawn discussing , and commentary on in Good Housekeeping.
